The World Atlas of Coffee 3rd edition: From beans to brewing – coffees explored, explained and enjoyed

by James Hoffman

Today, coffee has never been more exceptional or intriguing. Coffee producers now have access to a wider array of varieties and techniques than ever before, allowing us as consumers to benefit from this expertise and ensure that the coffee we enjoy is the finest available. The origin of the coffee, its harvesting methods, the roasting process, and the quality of the water used in brewing are just a few elements that affect the flavor of our drinks. Champion barista and coffee expert James Hoffmann delves into these critical factors, exploring coffee varieties, the influence of terroir, harvesting and processing methods, roasting techniques, and the brewing process itself.

Country by country—from Bolivia to Zambia—James highlights key characteristics and the techniques that influence the quality of each nation's coffee. Throughout the journey, we discover insights from the history of the espresso machine to the reasons why strength indicators on supermarket coffee may not be beneficial. This is the first book to comprehensively document coffee production across more than 35 countries, sharing insights never before disclosed outside the coffee industry.

For anyone eager to deepen their understanding of coffee's delightful subtleties and opportunities, this is the essential book to own.

I discovered James Hoffman while video hopping on youtube several years ago. I can't remember exactly which video, but I remember thinking to myself how educational it was. Since then I've found myself returning to his youtube channel more times then I can count. I have his second and third editions of his "World Atlas of Coffee" and have been blown away by them both. Highly recommend.

You can actually get this on amazon (https://amzn.to/4lEhvV0) for pretty cheap compared to bookstores like Barnes & Noble.
